According to Dorian Bolden, a Duke University alum who’s been working to open the coffeehouse/jazz lounge for the past year, the café ran into problems with an order for the bar countertop. A new order has been issued. Beyú was originally set for a soft opening this past week.
The business is still running its grand opening promotion, donating the November net proceeds from retail coffee bean purchases to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle organization.
Bolden hopes to raise $10,000 for the organization. Although sales will dampened by the delay in opening, proceeds from sales at the Durham Performing Arts Center and from the Web site will still be donated.
