N.C. writers' fall conference

The North Carolina Writers' Network will hold its annual Fall Conference Nov. 20-22 at Wrightsville Beach. Registration for this year's conference, to be held at the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort, is now open at the Network's Web site, www.ncwriters.org.

This year's conference will feature a keynote address by novelist Cassandra King, author of the best sellers "Queen of Broken Hearts," "The Same Sweet Girls," "The Sunday Wife," and "Making Waves." Her fifth novel, "Bridal Falls," will be released in 2010.

More than thirty writers and editors will lead workshops, master classes, and panel discussions in topics ranging from finding the form in free verse to how to write how-to books, from the fundamentals of screenwriting to the importance of food writing.

The conference faculty includes authors Ellyn Bache, Wendy Brenner, Marianne Gingher, Philip Gerard, Peter Makuck, and Robert Anthony Siegel.

Eisdorfer on 'Bookwatch'

Erica Eisdorfer will discuss her book "The Wet Nurse's Tale" on UNC-TV's "North Carolina Bookwatch, today at 5 p.m.

Eisdorfer, born in Durham, is a graduate of Duke University. For the past 30 years, she has been a buyer and manager at the Bull's Head Bookshop at UNC.
