Thanksgiving

Adopt a needy family and provide an uncooked or cooked holiday meal for their Thanksgiving Dinner.

Another way to help is to deliver meals Nov. 24 and Nov. 25.

All families are clients of Durham County Department of Social Services who are in need of a little holiday cheer this year.

To offer assistance, call Dorene Seabron at (919) 613-5101 or e-mail her at dorene@thevolunteercenter.org.

The deadline for donations is Nov. 30.

Everyone who makes a donation is invited to a stocking stuffing party at the firm on Dec. 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

The Really Terrible Orchestra Of the Triangle presents a holiday concert on Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. that will help Toys for Tots.

The concert will be held in the Reynolds Theater at the Bryan Center, Duke University, Durham.

Tickets are $7 at the door and can be bought in advance from the Duke box office, tickets.duke.edu or 919-684-4444.

RTOOT has partnered with Toys for Tots to help children in our community avoid a terrible holiday, and will accept donations at the holiday concert.

Patrons are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to collection bins at the concert to make these holidays memorable for those affected by these trying economic times.
