DURHAM -- Adrian Carroll, founder and CEO of the North Carolina High School/College Battle of the Bands, is organizing a turkey giveaway for 50 families for Thanksgiving.

Carroll has produced the Battle of the Bands for seven years now and has given back over $5,000 to the participating bands each year. But Carroll says he wants to give more back to the community.

"Durham has shown me support, and it's time to show my appreciation."

He is partnering with sponsors Jerry Lennon, JC's Concessions & Catering, Keijuane Hester, Favor Desserts, business partner Eric Terry and the Hillside High School Marching Band to donate 50 turkeys to 50 families in need.

Carroll has reached out to the Social Services Department to assist in selecting the 50 families.

In the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, Carroll, the sponsors and the Hillside High School Marching Band under the instruction of Xavier Cason and Pat Heidmann will give out the turkeys to the selected families on Nov. 23 at Hillside High School.
