The deputies charged Carlos Antonio Sandoval, 27, of 94 Barn Drive, Chapel Hill.
Narcotics officers conducted a search of his house and recovered 259.4 grams of cocaine, a .380 semi-automatic handgun and $1,204 in cash, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Sandoval was taken into custody on the three felonies without incident and is scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on Nov. 23.
Assault, kidnap charges lodged
CHAPEL HILL -- Chatham County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a Chapel Hill man Saturday after they investigated a 911 hang-up call that occurred Halloween night in Northeast Chatham County.
Cassandra Rickman reported that her live-in boyfriend, Caleb Wyland, 22, of 105 A Weldon St., Chapel Hill, assaulted and strangled her with his hands during an altercation they had about suspicious calls on his cell phone. She then called 911 and Wyland took the phone and attempted to break it. He allegedly kept Rickman from going outside to call for help. Wyland left the home before deputies arrived.
Deputy Paul Carroll investigated the case and Cpl. Todd Zogopoulos later arrested Wyland after he turned himself in over the weekend. He was charged with felonious assault by strangulation, felonious second degree kidnapping and assault on a female. He was jailed under a 48-hour lockup and scheduled to appear in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on Dec. 7.
