CHAPEL HILL -- In the first meeting between Duke and North Carolina with postseason significance since 1994 -- the most recent season when both programs had winning records -- it was the Tar Heels that came out with a 19-6 win at Kenan Stadium on Saturday.

UNC now has won 19 of the past 20 meetings with Duke and retained the Victory Bell in front of a sold-out homecoming crowd.

UNC's defense, ranked seventh in the nation, was the story of the game by shutting down the top passing offense in the ACC.

Junior running back Ryan Houston led the Tar Heels' offense, as he pounded out 164 yards on 37 carries.

"I can't remember any Duke-North Carolina game being like this," UNC quarterback T.J. Yates said. "You know -- energetic, exciting, the crowd was into it. ... No matter what the records are and how well either team is playing, it's going to be a good battle."
