DURHAM — Joyce Lefevre Albrecht died at The Forest At Duke on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Green Bay, Wisc., daughter of Alphonse Lefevre and Hattie Kannewurf Lefevre.
She is survived by her husband, Edmund Albrecht; daughter, Vonnie Albrecht Torbert and husband, Virgil; a son, Richard Albrecht and wife, Gail, in Atlanta; by four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Olsen in Pensacola, Fla.
Her family was her great interest and she was acknowledged as family historian, leaving a legacy of personal photo books and notes for the family. She was also an accomplished musician as a violinist, and as a member of several choral groups, serving for 17 years as choir director of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Parkersburg, W. Va.
A memorial service is planned at the Forest at Duke for late November, with an earlier private commitment service, all conducted by the Rev. Nancy Ferree-Clark of Duke University Chapel Congregation.
Memorials, if desired, may be sent to the Forest at Duke Benevolent Fund.
Orange Evelyn Laws Parker
ROUGEMONT — Evelyn Laws Parker, age 89, of 4003 Breeze Road, died Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Durham Regional Hospital.
She was born in Orange County and was the daughter of the late Hubert Laws and Birdie Blalock Laws and was widow of the late Clifton R. Parker.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Stevie Clifton Parker; and grandson, Jeffrey Parker. She was a lifelong member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church.
Surviving are children, Barry Parker and wife, Cheryl, of Mebane, Cindy P. Sherron and husband, John, of Rougemont, Timmy Parker and wife, Bibiana of Hurdle Mills; one brother, John Wesley Laws of San Jose, Calif.; three sisters, Elma Hawkins, of Hurdle Mills, Era Carr of Hillsborough, Ellen Wilkins, of Durham; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Parker of Hurdle Mills; seven grandchildren, Dwayne Parker, Beth Sherron, Brooke Sherron, James Clifton Parker, Faith Parker, Hope Parker, and Gabriel Parker.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church and other times at the home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2009 at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church by the Rev. Stuart Milton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Billy Hall, Jason Branscomb, Earl Brown, Randy Hawkins, Don Wilkins, and Duane Tilley.
