Southern's A.J. Marshall and T.J. Ross this week were selected to participate in the Shrine Bowl on Dec. 19 at Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C.
Marshall and Ross are two of the 44 players on the North Carolina roster. They will take on a team from South Carolina in the 73rd annual Shrine Bowl.
"It's a big accomplishment," Ross said. "I worked real hard with the coaches this summer. I can't wait to play."
Marshall also was excited about earning a position on the team.
"It's an honor to play in that game," Marshall said. "I'm ready to play for North Carolina and I'm going down their to represent [Southern's] defense."
Field Hockey
It took four overtimes to settle Friday's NCISAA field hockey semifinals between Durham Academy and Charlotte Country Day and unfortunately for the Cavaliers, their season ended with Mackenzie Holland's goal. Durham Academy played a superb defensive game to keep it scoreless as long as it did as the Cavaliers were outshot 28-4 in the game and gave up 15 penalty corners. Durham Academy finished 13-4.
