DURHAM -- Durham police on Thursday arrested two brothers -- one from Durham, the other from Raleigh -- and charged them with the murder of their cousin overnight Thursday at an apartment complex at 1737 E. Cornwallis Road.

Police were dispatched to a "shots fired" call at 1:19 a.m. Thursday at 1737 E. Cornwallis Road. where they found a man's lifeless body lying beside a Dumpster in the parking lot.

The victim, 25-year-old Marcelino Espinosa Guzman of 1737-D E. Cornwallis Road, had been shot and stabbed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

As Durham police officers Kevin Williams and Jeffrey Kenyon were driving to the call, police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said they saw a man matching the description they'd been given of one suspect who was running out of the woods near Fayetteville and Belgreen roads. Officers later found the second suspect in the same area.

The two suspects -- Isai Espinosa Ramirez, 23, of Exacta Lane in Raleigh and Abel Espinosa Ramirez, 21, of Southpoint Crossing Drive -- were arrested and charged with murder.

They were being held Thursday without bond.

The Ramirez brothers were cousins of Guzman.
