DURHAM -- Police were searching Tuesday for the suspect in the robbery of a the Wachovia bank branch at 2000 W. Main St. on Monday afternoon.
Around 3 p.m. Monday, a man entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money, police spokesman Kammie Michael said. No weapon was seen.
The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.
He was described as black, wearing a brown jacket, dark sunglasses, a baseball cap and blue jeans.
He was carrying a satchel, similar to a laptop bag, over his shoulder.
The North Carolina Bankers Association offers a reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of anyone robbing a bank in North Carolina. Report a confidential tip to (800) 209-2293.
Durham CrimeStoppers also is offering a reward for information in the holdup. Call (919) 683-1200 to offer information.
Thefts reported
DURHAM -- Computer equipment and electronics were among items stolen in recent thefts police are investigating. Here are the details:
- Burglars hit a home in the 300 block of Kilarney Drive Thursday and took $1,710 worth of property, including computer equipment, electronics, camera equipment, a fan, $400 and luggage.
- A man told police he was robbed Saturday of $500 in the 2100 block of Holloway Street.
- A robber took $3 from a man during a robbery in the 200 block of South Woodcrest Street Sunday.
- Someone broke into a car Friday in the 1000 block of Spruce Street and stole $400.
