I wish to correct a statement in the editorial about the first interfaith Habitat build in Durham. While the current cooperative build between Christians, Jews and Muslims in Durham is a first for these three faiths, it is not the first interfaith build in Durham.
A few years ago First Presbyterian Church, Fisher Memorial United Holy Church of America and Judea Reform Congregation joined together to sponsor and build a Habitat home in Durham.
One of the challenges was trying to work together as mixed build teams as much of the volunteer work is done on Saturdays, which is the Jewish sabbath.

Fox a lone voice
Dean Riddick's letter of Oct. 26 carefully explains the stated mission of ACORN while completely ignoring the reason why Fox News has been investigating it. Try Googling "ACORN and voting" and you'll get over 2 million "hits." I didn't read all 2 million but the overwhelming majority involved ACORN and illegal voting. Certainly illegal voting abuses the public interest.
The term "hissy fit" doesn't even scratch the surface of describing the meltdown liberals had over the results of the two previous presidential elections. Since a liberal won this time I haven't heard a peep from the left-wing media about illegal voting or faulty vote counting.
To folks like Riddick, if an organization, like Haliburton, has ties to conservatives then no amount of investigation is ever enough.
If liberals benefit then we are to ignore any wrongdoing and move on for the sake of the Republic.
In the eight years of Bush's presidency it was a rare day that the liberal media didn't criticize him. Since Obama was elected the media has fawned over him as if he were an infallible saint. Bush ignored the daily media attacks while Obama has declared war on Fox News as the lone voice questioning his administration.
Our economy is in free fall. During the election, Obama had all the answers. Perhaps he should stop worrying about Fox News and start doing the job he was elected to do. To do otherwise would waste all the effort ACORN put into getting him elected.

Thanks, 'Soupy'
Just learned that one of America's loveable comedians has passed. "Soupy Sales" was a rare comedian who made his laughs off of the goofiness of American character. It was a time when comedians drew from themselves and never intentionally berates a persons faith or personal views. Thanks for making us take a look at ourselves, "Soupy," and making us laugh with you and not at you!

Message to Hagan
Our monopolistic health care insurer, Blue-Cross, Blue Shield, is at it again. Last week, BCBS raised the cost of my health care insurance premiums by 11 percent. This week, using some of those premiums, BCBS wrote me asking me to send a message to North Carolina Senator Kay Hagan (not to Senator Richard Burr, who is already working on behalf of BCBS).
So I did. I wrote to Senator Hagan asking her to support a government-run health insurance option because North Carolina needs a government health insurance option to compete with BCBS.
