Funded by federal Community Development Block Grant and HOME funds allocated by the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the 10 one-bedroom units will house adults who are homeless or have a disability. HOME is the largest federal block grant to state and local governments exclusively for the purpose of affordable housing for low-income households. Each year the program allocates about $2 billion among the states and hundreds of localities nationwide.
Chapel Hill and Orange County teamed with Community Alternatives for Supportive Abodes of North Carolina (CASA NC) on the project.
