It began Oct. 15 at the 10th Anniversary Celebration for City Place. Presented by Zapolski Real Estate Company, the event took place at 501 Washington St., right across from the Durham Athletic Park.
What used to be a training facility for Durham's Fire Department is now home to the real estate company along with other businesses. Ten years ago the area was renovated and opened for business, and now the site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The gathering brought out members of the community and current tenants to celebrate the milestone.
Todd Zapolski, managing partner with the company, gave me a brief overview of how the project began, while he graciously served as host for the evening.
In addition to mingling, meeting and munching on hors d' oeuvres, many people used the opportunity to catch up with each other.
Jason Boner and Robert Hubbard, with Reverb Nation, are current tenants in City Place. Reverb Nation is a Web-based company that focuses on independent musicians and allows them to get more exposure for their work.
Cotton Room opening
From the celebration at City Place, it was a short drive to Golden Belt for the grand opening of the Cotton Room which was held later that evening.
