Wanted suspect nabbed after tip

DURHAM -- Police on Wednesday night arrested Rashad Lamont Brockington on Sherwood Drive as a result of a CrimeStoppers tip.

Brockington had been charged with shooting a man on Sept. 25 near the intersection of Rosedale Avenue and Gunter Street and had been at large ever since.

In the shooting incident, a 17-year-old male was walking down the street when two vehicles pulled up and shots were fired from the vehicles. The victim was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment.

Brockington, 22, of Guess Road, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Thefts reported to police

DURHAM -- A church air conditioner and video game equipment were among items stolen in recent thefts police are investigating. Here are the details:

n Someone stole a $2,000 air conditioner from Bethesda United Methodist Church on South Miami Boulevard Oct. 14.

n Furniture and other items were stolen from World Market in the 6800 block of Fayetteville Road Saturday. A sideboard, two sofas, two trunks and two locks worth $2,540 were taken.

n A home break-in in the 500 block of Lodestone Drive Monday netted thieves an LCD television and a Sony PlayStation 3 worth $2,681.

n Burglars hit a house in the 100 block of Perriwinkle Place Friday and took a Nintendo Wii, television, three Nintendo game controllers and jewelry valued at $1,926.

n Jewelry and cash worth $1,085 were stolen from a home in the 100 block of Lure Court Oct. 14.
