DATA shuttles to run roundtrips to, from fair

DURHAM -- Beginning at 3 p.m. today, DATA is offering shuttle bus service to the N.C. State Fair from Durham Station, 515 W. Pettigrew St. Service will be offered until the fair ends Oct. 25.

Round-trip shuttle tickets are $2. There is a $1 discount fare for eligible passengers. The shuttle is free for seniors 65 and over and youth 12 and younger who are under 5 feet tall. Riders must purchase tickets on the state fair shuttle. Passes used on regular DATA routes will not be excepted for the State Fair Shuttle.

DATA will offer a park-and-ride lot at Heritage Square Complex, 401 E. Lakewood Ave., Durham, for residents using DATA to attend the N.C. State Fair. The park-and-ride lot, compliments of Scientific Properties, provides 98 designated parking spaces that are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Anyone using the lot must be park in the designated, reserved area to avoid towing. The shuttle will serve the park-and-ride lot at the bus stop located on Lakewood Avenue in front of Heritage Square Shopping Center.

The shuttle will arrive and depart at the N.C. State Fair at Gate 10 on Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh.

The shuttle will leave Durham Station for the 45-minute trip to the fair on the hour from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Saturday -- 3-10 p.m. today -- and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday. It arrives at the Lakewood stop five minutes later. Return shuttles to Durham leave the fairgrounds on the hour from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Sunday.
