DURHAM -- Roxboro Person swept Jordan behind the hitting of Katie Tatum to clinch at least a tie for the PAC-6 title in volleyball on Tuesday.

"I'm proud of this team," said Person coach Craig Hicks, whose team won 25-18, 25-22, 25-10. "Jordan made a great run at us."

Person (19-4, 10-0 PAC-6), which has two matches remaining, beat Jordan in both matches this season, giving the Falcons (13-8, 9-2) their only conference losses -- both sweeps. Jordan's remaining match is at Riveriside on Monday, and the Falcons have to win in order to keep second place heading into the state playoffs.

"I feel like we have a good team," Jordan coach Erik Hofheinz said. "If we could have won the second set, then there might have been a different mindset going into the third."

Person took the first set, but Jordan came back and was in control most of the way in the second. But with Jordan leading 21-19, Person reeled of the next three points to take the lead and regain the momentum.

"You can't do that against a team like Person," Hofheinz said. "A that point in the game, there isn't a lot of time to recover. Those were some big points."

The third and clinching set went quickly for Person, which seemed to feed on Jordan's second-set letdown. Tatum put away the match with a kill from the middle.

Jordan was led by Genny Olson and Gillian McBrayer, who finished with seven kills each.
