We've been residents of Carrboro for 22 years and have known Sharon Cook and her family (Bill, Sharon's husband, and three children) since they moved here 12 years ago.
Sharon has worn many hats and has always been extremely active in our neighborhood and in a wide range of local civic organizations/groups.
As a parent, she has been a dedicated volunteer within the Chapel Hill School system, Orange County Girl Scouts and Orange County Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.
Sharon has been a member and volunteer in many civic activities. She has served on the Carrboro Planning Board since March 2007 and for one term was the Planning Board's representative to the Greenways Commission. Focus groups she has participated in include: Chapel Hill Transit Eubanks & Rogers Roads Route and Carolina North Don't Get Stuck in Traffic. She participated in the Carrboro Northern Study Area Small Area Plan Implementation Review Committee community forums and meeting. This is a small sampling of Sharon's involvement in our community.
Sharon steps up and gets involved when she sees a need -- she has experience with the many facets of our local government. We need Sharon on the Carrboro Board of Alderman. Please give her your vote!

Czajkowski offers straight talk, experience
For over 20 years I was privileged to own and operate Swensens Ice Cream Shop in University Square on West Franklin Street in Chapel Hill. During that time I watched our town grow and change.
Chapel Hill is still growing and changing and needs strong leadership to make sure we successfully continue positively in these very demanding times.
I am convinced Matt Czajkowski is the most capable to lead our town as mayor because of his straight talk, business experience and leadership qualities. Please join me in supporting Matt and electing him so our town can be assured it will have an outstanding leader for its future.

Town improvement Czajkowski's goal
Matt Czajkowski is Chapel Hill's chance to bring some type of order to our wonderful town government.
His platform for fiscal responsibility, i.e. freezing property taxes for two years; managing growth, i.e. done in a way that is responsible to the character of Chapel Hill but also done, in order to improve the town's tax base; bringing vitality back to downtown. How often is downtown thought of as a destination?
His ideas are all focused on improving our town. Matt has the solutions to the problems that have been ignored for over eight years.

Cast your ballot for Czajkowski
Please permit me to take this opportunity to express my strong support for Matt Czajkowski for mayor of Chapel Hill.
Although I am currently a resident of Chatham County, I have lived in Chapel Hill on several occasions in the past. I have recently chosen to "retire" to the area. I urge Chapel Hill residents to vote for Matt Czajkowski.
Incidentally, I am a 1957 graduate of UNC-CH (B.A. -- Economics) and am presently an adjunct professor at the Kenan Flagler Business School.

Harrison, Kleinschmidt have my support, votes
Around June 2001, I was reading a newspaper and saw that someone was declaring their intention to run for Chapel Hill Town Council. I said, "This guy has only lived here for three years and I've been here longer than that." The next week I paid my five dollars and filed my paperwork to run for Town Council. That's how I ended up meeting Mark Kleinschmidt and Ed Harrison.
Mark and Ed were both running for the same seat that I was running for. The big difference was that both of them were better qualified candidates and time has shown that both of them have been excellent council members. Ed Harrison is always prepared in all matters that come before the council, especially environmental and ecological issues. But, in truth, non-motor transportation issues are the closest to bike-riding Ed's heart.
After the '01 election I served two terms on the Chapel Hill Human Services Advisory Board; the last two years as chair, and worked closely with Mark Kleinschmidt, who served as the council liaison. Mark's thoughtful guidance helped our board maintain funding though difficult fiscal times. Mark's legal expertise and life experience has served our board and the town in many ways, and his commitment to the less fortunate is an inspiration.
I have no reservations in giving my support and vote to the re-election of Ed Harrison to Chapel Hill Town Council and the election of Mark Kleinschmidt as Chapel Hill mayor.

Brownstein best school board pick
Our community is fortunate to have six fine candidates running for the three open seats on the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Board of Education. Shell Brownstein, however, stands out from the others.
Shell has four children in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools and has devoted the past seven years to improving education at her children's schools, throughout the entire district, at the state level and even on the national stage. No one can match Shell's experience, skills, preparation and determination. From the first day, she will be a board member who makes major contributions.
Shell is determined to help create a school system in which all children can reach their potential. Her three main priorities are to improve district accountability, increase collaboration among schools and enhance communication between the school board and our community. These goals will push our district to become more effective and efficient at educating our children. This is vital as our poor budget situation will continue for at least the next year.
More details about Shell and her vision are on her website ... www.michellebrownstein.com .

Slade's knowledge, demeanor stand out
Having known Board of Aldermen candidate Sammy Slade for several years now, I am impressed by his deep knowledge of and commitment to Carrboro. He has demonstrated his love of our community and its values through a variety of projects that have helped to make Carrboro a better place to live. He has been at the forefront of innovative projects in Carrboro and would continue to bring pathbreaking ideas in service to our community in his capacity as alderman.
In these times of unprecedented political vitriol, Sammy brings a refreshingly gentle and soft-spoken eloquence to political discourse. What an asset to our community to have another voice that combines passionate conviction with a calm demeanor, serving to build bridges and work for consensus.
Please join me in supporting Sammy Slade for alderman.
