Appalachian State may have Armanti Edwards, but N.C. Central has Will Scott. If quarterback Michael Johnson can get the ball in Scott's hands, few players are swift enough to keep up with the Eagles' wide receiver.
AVOID DEFENSIVE BREAKDOWNS
Rison said he is happy with the defensive effort his team has displayed with the exception of a handful of plays. The Eagles will have to be on their toes against Appalachian State because Edwards, with his speed and throwing ability, doesn't need much of an opening to shred a defense.
PLAY MORE OFFENSE THAN DEFENSE
The Mountaineers have been unusually generous with the number of yards that they're giving up. NCCU can keep Edwards off the field by holding onto the ball with offensive efficiency, which in turn keeps the defense fresh to chase him down when he is on the field.
