ARTS BRIEFS
CHAPEL HILL -- The Deep Dish Theater Company will present an evening of readings, "Apro-Poe," at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9. Admission for the event is a suggested donation of $5 or a non-perishable food item, with proceeds to benefit the Inter-faith Council's Food Bank.
As with previous short story evenings, "Apro-Poe" will be curated by David Carr, who will join Deep Dish actors in reading a selection of stories by Edgar Allan Poe and by contemporary writers using his work as inspiration. This year marks the 200th anniversary of Poe's birth.
The Deep Dish Short Story evenings are presented in conjunction with the Inter-faith Council Food Bank. Headquartered in Carrboro, The Inter-Faith Council for Social Service helps individuals and families achieve their goals by providing shelter, food, direct services, advocacy and information to people in need. Baking goods, canned meat, pasta and pasta sauce, canned beans, cereal, and rice are among the essential foods always needed at the IFC food pantry.
For more information on Deep Dish Theater Company, call 968-1515 or visit the Deep Dish Web site at www.deepdishtheater.org. Tickets will be available at the door only.
