n Answered 3,665 crisis calls.
n Volunteers spent 12,536 hours fielding crisis calls.
n Provided temporary emergency shelter for 252 women and children.
n Accompanied 144 sexual assault and domestic violence survivors to the hospital.
n Provided legal advocacy for 407 criminal and civic cases.
n Held domestic violence support groups and sexual violence support groups.
Durham domestic violence statistics:
n Four people (three women and one man) were victims of domestic violence homicide in 2008.
n Four people have been victims of domestic violence homicide in Durham so far in 2009.
National domestic violence statistics:
n Nearly one in four women are beaten or raped by a partner during adulthood.
n One in six women and one in 33 men have experienced rape or attempted rape.
n An average of three women are killed every day by a current or former partner.
n Each year, about 2.3 million people are raped or physically assaulted by a current or former spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend.
n About 15.5 million children are exposed to domestic violence each year.
n Men exposed to abuse as children are almost four times as likely to perpetuate domestic violence.
