Murder mystery solution to wait HILLSBOROUGH -- The murder mystery sponsored by Friends of the Library/Orange Community Players has been rescheduled for an unspecified later date due to a variety of unforeseen circumstances that included illness, accidents and site conflict.

Those who planned to attend the theater at the Gateway Center parking deck and who purchased tickets will be contacted about a refund of their money.

Cancer Hospital tour set today

CHAPEL HILL -- Members of the public are invited to tour the new N.C. Cancer Hospital from 1-3 p.m. today at 101 Manning Drive on the UNC campus.

Areas open to the public include the patient and family resource center, the telemedicine conference center, the adult infusion area, the pediatric clinic and the radiation oncology area.

A specially commissioned photography exhibit titled "The New Face of Cancer Care" will be on display in the lobby during the tour. It features work by North Carolina photographers Neil Boyd, Rachel Garrison and Tamara Lackey. It celebrates the strength and courage of the patients, medical professionals, researchers, caregivers, family and friends who face cancer every day, and whose images and stories serve as an inspiration to all.

Members of the public are invited to participate in the exhibit as well -- personal images, stories and tributes can be shared by visiting www.unclineberger.org and clicking on the New Face of Cancer Care icon.

Kids half-mile fun run on tap

HILLSBOROUGH -- Orange County Schools band programs are sponsoring a 5K kids half-mile fun run that begins promptly at 9 a.m. today.

The course is certified by USATF, and all performances will count toward state records and national rankings. The course is a paved asphalt surface with gentle hills and slopes through scenic downtown Hillsborough.

The race is managed by the Orange County Band Programs. Registration, timing and results are performed by Off 'N Running. The event will begin and end at the Orange County Board of Education Building at 200 E. King St.

Awards will be given to 1st place overall (male & female), 2nd place overall (male & female), the top two finishers (male & female) in each of the following age divisions: 8 and under, 9-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over. There will be no duplication of awards.

Walkers are welcome.
