DURHAM — N.C. Central University will resume all scheduled on-campus activities at 8 a.m. today.
The school had canceled all classes and other events Thursday afternoon and evening after suffering a power outage related to an off-campus problem at about noon Thursday.
The school said Thursday night that health and safety should not be a problem when the campus reopens today, temperatures may be warm as crews work to restore air conditioning service.
Convocation set at NCCU
DURHAM — N.C. Central University will hold its fall convocation at 9:15 a.m. today, in the McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.
At approximately 10 a.m., Chancellor Charlie Nelms will deliver his State of the University address and officially welcome faculty, staff, and students to the school’s new academic and centennial year.
East Durham tour scheduled
DURHAM — UpLift East Durham, Preservation Durham and Preservation North Carolina invite the public to tour “hidden gems” of houses that are for sale and others that have been purchased and restored, in East Durham from 1-4 p.m. Sunday.
Visitors are invited to browse at an old-fashioned lawn sale at historic Y.E. Smith Elementary School or join a renovator workshop at 118 S. Driver St. to learn how to restore original windows.
Food, fun and festivities will be offered.
Self-guided tour packets will be available the day of the tour at 201 S. Driver St.
