Open Studio tour set for November
From staff reports
CARRBORO -- The Orange County Artists Guild is planning its 13th Annual Open Studio tour, Nov. 7-8 and Nov. 14-15. The event features carefully selected visual artists who welcome the public into their studios.
Paintings, sculpture, pottery, wood working, jewelry, textiles, iron, glass and photography can be found on the tour, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
There are two exhibitions for previewing the artists' work Oct. 16 to Nov. 9: The ArtsCenter in Carrboro and the Burwell School in Hillsborough. There will be an opening reception to meet the artists at the ArtsCenter from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 30.
Tour maps will be available to guide participants to studios located all over Orange County. They may plan their own itinerary by creating their own personal tour, choosing among the 65 artists participating. The relaxed atmosphere provides an opportunity to get to know the artists and to see where they create their art.
Orange County is famous for its creative population. Artists, authors and musicians are found in abundance here. The Open Studio tour is a rare opportunity for visitors to meet visual artists face-to-face. This annual tour grows in popularity every year among local artists and art lovers. It gives the artists a chance to display their best work in a relaxed atmosphere and for art lovers to support and talk to the artists about their visions and techniques.
For more information call Gordon Jameson at (919) 932-3438. The Orange County Artists Guild's Web site is at www.orangecountyartistsguild.com.
