Suspect sought in break-in series

DURHAM -- Police are trying to locate Leander Lawrence Jr., who is wanted on charges of breaking into a house and several vehicles in the past six weeks.

Lawrence, 48, is charged with breaking into a house on Drew Street on Aug. 10 and breaking into six vehicles at Excel Auto Inc. on Ramseur Street Saturday.

Lawrence is charged with one count of breaking and entering, one count of larceny after breaking and entering, one count of felony conspiracy, six counts of breaking and entering to vehicles, seven counts of injury to property, one count of trespassing and two counts of felony larceny.

He is also wanted for parole violations on previous charges including being a habitual offender.

Lawrence frequents the areas of East Club Boulevard, Hopkins Street, Brick House Lane, East Main Street and the homeless shelter on Liberty Street, police said.

Missing woman tied to Durham

DURHAM -- Police are trying to locate Jacquitta Renee Watson, who was reported missing in Wilson. Police have received reports that Watson may have been seen at Camden Pointe Apartments on East Knox Street in Durham the first week of September.

Watson, 22, is described as a black female, 5-foot-3 and 140 pounds. She has short brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on Watson's whereabouts is asked to call Investigator Charles Sole at (919) 560-4440, ext. 29350.

Thefts reported

DURHAM -- Meats and jewelry were among property stolen in recent thefts police are investigating. Here are the details:

n A shoplifter took $100 worth of meat Friday from a Food Lion on Sherron Road.

n A man said he was robbed of $230 in the 1800 block of Holloway Street Saturday.

n Burglars hit a home in the 700 block of Holloway Street Saturday and took $1,000 in cash and another $1,000 in jewelry.

n Thieves hit a home in the 100 block of Miosha Street Saturday and took a digital camera, a .38-caliber revolver, sunglasses and $100.

n Burglars took a painting machine and generator worth $1,300 from a home in the 400 block of East End Avenue Friday.
