PLAYER OF THE GAME

Erik Highsmith, UNC wide receiver

The true freshman caught six passes for 113 yards and one TD. It was Highsmith's first career start and was the first 100-yard receiving game by a Tar Heel this season.

PLAY OF THE GAME

True freshman Jheranie Boyd accounted for UNC's longest play from scrimmage this season when he pulled in a 59-yard TD pass. Boyd bobbled the ball but eventually secured it for his first touchdown.

STAT OF THE GAME

A week after gaining just 196 yards of total offense, the Tar Heels were able to move the ball for 433 yards. Quarterback T.J. Yates completed a career-high 79.2 percent of his passes, and running back Shaun Draughn rushed for a respectable 84 yards.

WHAT THE VICTORY MEANS

UNC improved to 3-0 for the first time since 1997 and won an emotional in-state matchup.
