Man, 41, faces drug charges
DURHAM -- A 41-year-old Durham man was arrested on multiple drug charges on Friday.
Michael Alexander Hopkins, of 143 Commerce St., Apt. M, was charged with multiple counts, including possession of drugs within 1,000 feet of a park, altering/stealing/destroying criminal evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting public officer, maintaining a dwelling for illegal substances, and possession with intent to manufacturing, sell or deliver a controlled substance.
According to Durham County Magistrates records, Hopkins was within 1,000 feet of Belmont Park, Indian Trail Park and Westover Park. He altered/destroyed bindles of heroin that were regarded as evidence. He had pill bottles and plastic baggies and tried to chew up the drugs, resisting the orders of a police officer. He maintained a hotel room at the Carolina Duke Motor Inn, where he kept and sold marijuana, heroin and percocet.
Hopkins' bond was set at $282,000. He's scheduled to be in court at 9 a.m. Monday.
Pamlico County man is arrested
DURHAM -- A man from Florence, N.C., in Pamlico County, was arrested Saturday for allegedly trying to hit someone with a cane and a sword.
Raiham Graham, 37, allegedly tried to hit a nurse on the Duke University campus with his cane, which had a sword attached to it, according to Durham County Magistrates records.
He was charged with having a weapon on an educational property and assault with a deadly weapon.
Graham's bond was set at $5,000. He will be in court on Oct. 8.
