UNC Postgame Report
PLAYER OF THE GAME
T.J. Yates, UNC quarterback
The junior finished 23-of-32 for 233 yards and one TD. Even though he threw two interceptions, the three-year starter shook off those mistakes to lead UNC on two scoring drives at the end of the game.
PLAY OF THE GAME
UNC defensive end Robert Quinn was rushing toward UConn quarterback Cody Endres when he was pulled down by Dan Ryan, the Huskies' left tackle. Ryan was called for a hold in the end zone, which resulted in a safety and a UNC victory.
STAT OF THE GAME
A week after putting up 261 yards on the ground, the Tar Heels struggled in their running game against the Huskies with 35 yards rushing. UConn's defense controlled the line of scrimmage for much of the game, and UNC couldn't get much going until the end.
WHAT THE VICTORY MEANS
No. 19 UNC improves to 2-0 to start the season and showed its defense is the real deal. The Tar Heels held the Huskies to 196 yards of offense and repeatedly bailed out their anemic offense in the first half.
