NC Prevention Partners honored

CHAPEL HILL -- NC Prevention Partners has been named Business Leader Media's 2009 "Healthiest Small Company."

NC Prevention Partners is a leader in reducing preventable illness and early death in North Carolina caused by tobacco use, poor nutrition, physical inactivity and obesity.

The Chapel Hill-based nonprofit was cited for several leadership endeavors:

n Supports employees and visitors by having a 100 percent tobacco-free office policy.

n Provides daily fresh fruit, water and other healthy beverages to staff and visitors.

n Encourages employees to take 30 minutes of paid work time each day during business hours for physical activity and offers on-site fitness equipment.

n Offers employees an annual wellness benefit to support a healthy lifestyle.

n Organizes monthly wellness activities and competitions.

n Ensures that healthy food options are available at all of its meetings, events and programs through a catering policy.

Foreman joins Investors Trust

CHAPEL HILL -- Benjamin Alexander Foreman II has joined Investors Trust Company as vice president of sales. Located in the company's headquarters in Chapel Hill, Foreman will focus on increasing sales of trust and investment services.

Foreman was raised in Wilmington and graduated from East Carolina University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.

"We are very pleased that Ben has joined Investors Trust Company. With his broad knowledge of the securities industry and extensive experience in the sale and service of investment products, he will be a great asset to our Trust group," said James A. Fine Jr., president of Investors Title Company.

Capelletti wins Realtor award

CHAPEL HILL -- Carol Cappelletti, an Allen Tate Realtor in the Chapel Hill/Durham office, has been awarded the prestigious Certified Residential Specialist CRS designation by the Council of Residential Specialists, the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of REALTORS.

Realtors who receive the CRS designation have completed advanced courses and have demonstrated professional expertise in the field of residential real estate. Only 37,000 realtors nationwide have earned the credential.

Chamber to present briefing

CHAPEL HILL -- The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Greater Chapel Hill Association of Realtors and the Home Builders Association of Orange, Durham, and Chatham Counties, will present the third annual Orange County Development Briefing from 8-10 a.m. Sept. 22 at the Friday Center.

Mark Zimmerman, president of Re/Max Winning Edge; Jack Graham, executive vice president of Grubb and Ellis, Thomas Linderman Graham; Dwight Bassett, Chapel Hill economic development officer; Brad Broadwell, Orange County economic development director; Margaret Hauth, Hillsborough planning director; and Jim Norton, Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership executive director, are confirmed to speak at the event. The speakers will present the latest trends in the regional and local markets, new local economic development initiatives, and the status of approved projects in Orange County and its municipalities.
