Desperate Democrats

Let’s look at what Kennedy/Waxman-crafted Obamacare bill would have given us:

- Sec. 1401, Pg. 503, Lines 13-19 — The government will build registries and data networks from your electronic medical records. “The Center may secure directly from any department or agency of the United States information necessary to enable it to carry out this section.”

- Sec. 1651, Pg. 734, Lines 16-25 — Proposes, for law enforcement sake, that the Secretary of HHS will give Attorney General access to all medical data.

- Sec. 163, Pg. 58-59 beginning at line 5 — Government will have real-time access to individual’s finances and a national health care card will be issued,

Lets say you are writing highly influential editorials in a national newspaper strongly opposing legislation that Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Obama want very badly to pass. Since Pelosi is likely to view you as a Nazi, you get a phone call from a government bureaucrat informing you the bill that you are impeding is necessary to straighten out some unfortunate inconsistencies in your child’s medical file that might otherwise disqualify your child from receiving further cancer radiation treatments. Also, a “coding” error necessitates your bank account be tapped.

That kind of vulnerability is where Democrats and Obama are desperately trying to lead this country and almost succeeded.

This is the same bunch that blocked accountability reforms in the banking industry leading to the economic meltdown and then claimed capitalism is a “colossal failure.”

Don’t blame me

On Aug. 10 I read a letter from Lois Henry calling the Republican party “the party of stupid,” so I decided to respond.

There have been so many gratuitous responses to my letter that I feel I have to clarify how I replied to Henry and respond to some of the illogical rhetoric being thrown around.

First, I was offended by Henry’s designation. I didn’t vote for a single Democrat during the last election, so I feel no responsibility for the irresponsible legislation and leadership that have resulted from last year’s election. Our national debt has quadrupled under the new leadership and unemployment has exploded. I don’t know why my party should be called stupid when the majority of us voted for the opponents of the party responsible.

Second, in response to Don Edwards, I am glad he is enjoying his Medicare and Social Security. With the way his party is spending money, his may be the last generation to benefit from it, particularly when this new health care bill calls for massive cuts in Medicare.

Lastly, the people showing up at these town halls are angry and afraid of what is happening to the America they know and love. If the Lois Henrys of the nation want to believe that they are all Republican party plants, then maybe they should pay attention to some of the polls that her party is so enamored with.

The majority of the American public soundly rejects this so-called health plan.
