'Pancakes for the People' at Trinity

DURHAM -- Trinity United Methodist Church, 215 N. Church St., will host Pancakes for the People from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday.

Enter in the breezeway right hand door, and go down the stairs. All are welcome at the free community breakfast. Free school supplies will be given to children. For information, call 683-1386.

Amity UMC to host Ministries Fair

CHAPEL HILL -- Amity United Methodist Church, 825 N. Estes Drive, will hold a Ministries Fair at 12:15 p.m. Sunday immediately following the 11 a.m. worship service.

The community is invited to mingle, enjoy finger food and learn more about Amity's opportunities for developing faith, learning, serving, nurturing, praying, giving, singing and fellowship. Upcoming activities include "Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations" daily devotion and weekly study, a 34-week in-depth "Disciple Bible Study" course, a Thanksgiving week mission trip building fresh drinking water facilities in the Dominican Republic, community work-days, and other study, fellowship and outreach programs. "Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations" begins Sept. 9 and is held at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday through Oct. 7.

A 5:30 p.m. meal precedes the weekly study that focuses on radical hospitality, passionate worship, intentional faith development, risk-taking mission and service, and extravagant generosity. Study materials are available at the church.

Alpha at Evergreen UMC starting Sept. 9

Evergreen United Methodist Church, 11098 U.S. 15-501 North, will offer a Christian faith issues course called Alpha beginning Sept. 9. Evergreen is in Northern Chatham County. Alpha is a 10-week practical study held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

An informal dinner is followed by a short talk via video by Nicky Gumbel of England and then small group discussion and interaction. The course is free and everyone is invited. Nursery care and children and teen activities are provided.

Evergreen's Sunday worship schedule changes Sunday, with a 9 a.m. contemporary service and 11 a.m. traditional service. Fellowship time with a light breakfast is held from 10 to 11 a.m. Senior pastor is the Rev. Donna Banks.
