HILLSBOROUGH — The N.C. Highway Patrol has determined that the traffic death of Antonio Covington, 28, of 7337 Bryan Anthony Way, Raleigh, was accidental.

A Highway Patrol trooper found Covington’s body in his car last Thursday near the Interstate 85/Interstate 40 split west of Hillsborough after stopping to investigate why signs had been knocked down along the road.

The trooper found Covington’s car down a steep embankment.

It appeared his car ran off the right side of the road and went down the embankment where no one could see it, according to the Highway Patrol.

Covington had been reported missing in Raleigh on Aug. 10.
