DURHAM -- The North Carolina Sheriff Police Alliance on Saturday announced its endorsements for the upcoming Durham Municipal elections in an e-mail from NCSPA President Andy Miller.

The NCSPA endorsed Bill Bell for mayor, Cora Cole-McFadden for City Council in Ward 1, Howard Clement for City Council in Ward 2, and Mike Woodard for City Council in Ward 3.

Miller wrote: "These four candidates have proven themselvers to be leaders for Durham. Together, they have consistently voted for strategies to reduce crime in Durham. They are not afraid to stand up and voice their concerns about crime and the way law enforcement in Durham tackles the issue. They believe, as we do, that Durham should be served by the highest quality police officers in the law enforcement profession."

The NCSPA is not affiliated with any labor union or organization.
