DURHAM -- One night after Durham thrived against a Major League pitcher just passing through the minors, the Bulls proved no match for a pitcher making his first pass through the Triple-A ranks.

The Bulls couldn't get anything going against Charlotte starter Daniel Hudson in an 8-1 loss Wednesday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, just 24 hours after they knocked around 2007 Cy Young winner Jake Peavy in a rehab start.

"Baseball does work that way sometimes," said Bulls catcher John Jaso, a bright spot Wednesday with a 2-for-4 night. "A lot of people thrive in certain situations. Like Manny Ramirez can have two ugly at-bats, but then as soon as he gets people on base, all of a sudden he'll crush the ball with a perfect swing.

"I know I, for one, like facing big-league rehab guys. It's something to talk about, and I like the challenge."
