Farmers' Market chefs event set

CARRBORO -- "Chefs Who Shop the Carrboro Farmers' Market" is the theme for the seventh annual local chef event, to be held from 9 a.m. until the food runs out on Sept. 19.

Billed as a celebration of local farms and locally owned restaurants, the event features seven chefs who regularly shop the Carrboro Farmers' Market. They will create a "Blue Plate Special" using ingredients currently available at the market, and market shoppers can sample these dishes and take home recipes.

Participating chefs include: Kevin Callaghan, ACME; Bret Jennings, Elaine's on Franklin; Ricky Moore, Glasshalfull; Matt & Sheila Neal, Neal's Deli; Adam Rose, Il Palio; Bill Smith, Crook's Corner; and Amy Tornquist, Watt's Grocery.

"Many of the farmers at the Carrboro Market regularly supply products to the chefs who participate in our event," said Kelly Clark, special event coordinator for the market.

The chefs will create an economical recipe featuring products available at the market that would be included as part of a daily dinner special.

Any questions about this market event may be directed to Market Manager Sarah Blacklin at (919) 280.3326 or at info@carrborofarmersmarket.com.
