DURHAM – Chicago blues guitarist and vocalist Buddy Guy wowed the crowds at the 2007 and 2010 editions of the Bull Durham Blues Festival. Guy will return to Durham April 18 for a concert at the Carolina Theatre.

The guitarist runs Buddy Guy’s Legends bar and restaurant in Chicago. He first went to Chicago in 1957, and during the 1960s recorded several successful releases for the Chess label and became a working musician for that label’s studio. The All Music Guide calls him the living king of the Chicago style of urban blues. Tickets for his concert go on sale Jan. 13.

Other highlights to the winter and spring season include an event with actress and writer Carrie Fisher, who will discuss growing up as the daughter of screen legends Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, and her struggles with addiction. Fisher will be at the theater March 2.

For audiences that enjoy the offbeat, the theater has several offerings. The creators of the television show “Mystery Science Theater 3000” will tear apart some popular movie of the past March 16 during “Cinematic Titanic.” Watch the theater’s website, www.carolinatheatre.org, for a poll to determine which film the cast will spoof. On April 20, Henson Alternative will present “Stuffed and Unstrung,” an adult version of the puppet characters.
