Friday night’s scheduled Norfolk Tides at Durham Bulls baseball game was postponed because of rain and will be made up as part of a doubleheader beginning at 5:05 p.m. today at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The Bulls game was not the only area sporting event lost to the weather Friday.
Friday’s Duke baseball game at No. 1 North Carolina was postponed due to inclement weather and rescheduled as part of a doubleheader at UNC’s Boshamer Stadium today.
Game 1 today will begin at 1 p.m., Game 2 at 6 p.m. The three-game series between the ACC rivals concludes with a 2 p.m. game Sunday, also in Chapel Hill.
All Durham Public Schools afternoon and evening events were canceled because the area was under a tornado watch. Most other area high school games were also canceled or postponed, some having been moved back to Thursday and played Thursday night to avoid weather issues.
Also, because of events surrounding the attacks in Boston, Mass., an ACC women’s tennis matche between No. 11 Duke and Boston College scheduled for today in Chesnut Hill, Mass., has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
