BASEBALL

Jordan 19, Hillside 0

DURHAM — Jordan remained alone in first place atop the PAC-6 with a 17-hit barrage against three Hillside pitchers.

Jordan (13-6, 8-2 PAC-6)  is one-half game ahead of second-place Riverside (7-2 PAC-6) in conference play.

Nick Piccillo (1-1) got the win in the mercy-rule shortened five inning game, while Max Veasey, Ben Skeen (3 for 4) and Steven Oakley drove in two runs each for the Falcons.

Kerry Walker and Wood Myers had two hits and an RBI each for Jordan.



Orange 10, Southern Vance 0

HILLSBOROUGH — Bryse Wilson’s eighth win — against no losses — came on a one-hit, five-inning shutout Friday night as Orange exploded for 10 runs in four innings to bring in the mercy rule and end the game.

Orange (19-2, 7-1 Carolina 6 3-A) rode a 3 for 3 night and three RBI from Andrew Toney. Jon Evans also was perfect in three trips including a pair of doubles for the Panthers.



Voyager Academy 8, Franklin Academy 1

DURHAM — Junior righthander Loy “Bubba” Stone (4-2) struck out 19 batters in a seven-inning, one-hit complete game victory as Voyager Academy improved to 14-4 overall and 9-2 in the Carolina 12 1-A/2-A Conference.

With 19 of Franklin Academy’s 21 outs coming by strikeout, the Patriots had to scratch and claw for a their only run. It came in the third inning as the result of a fielding error, a pair of walks by Stone to load the bases, and a sacrifice fly.

The run was unearned. Nick Batten went 3 for 3 with a double and Chad Sykes and Caleb Trueheart each added a pair of hits for the Vikings.



South Granville 16, Cedar Ridge 0

HILLSBOROUGH — South Granville posted four-spots in each of the first four innings and slammed Cedar Ridge in a mercy-rule shortened five inning shutout.

Jordan Harris got the win and improved to 6-1. Ty Adcock drove in three runs with a pair of doubles among a 4 for 4 plate performance. Shawn Montren was 3 for 3 with a triple and three RBI, Lee Whitt was 3 for 5 with a pair of RBI and Daniel Washburn had a pair of hits and RBI as well. Houston Anderson was 3 for 5 for the Vikings.

GIRLS


Ravens top Durham Academy, Raleigh St. Mary's

RALEIGH — Ravenscroft star distance runner Wesley Frazier won at 800, 1600 and 3200 meters as the Ravens posted a 98-61 win over Durham Academy in a tri-meet Friday.

Raleigh St. Mary’s was third with 10 points.

Cha’Mia Rothwell won three events of her own for DA, taking the 100, 200 and 100 hurdles.



BOYS

Ravenscroft 85, Durham Academy 56

RALEIGH — Raleigh Ravenscroft downed Durham Academy 85-56 Friday despite five individual titles by Cavaliers’ runners. Charlie Dektar won at 200 and 400 meters and Jimmy Mosca, Tommy Monson and Jordan Pierce at 800, 1600 and 3200, respectively.



GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Ravenscroft 11, Durham Academy 10


RALEIGH — Olivia Ashman scored six times as Ravenscroft edged visiting Durham Academy.

Robin Blazing and Naomi Lerner each scored three goals for DA.

Trinity School of Durham & Chapel Hill 3, Burlington Christian Academy 1


BURLINGTON — Allie Ruffing scored twice and Kellie Shaefer once as the Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill easily defeated Burlington Christian Academy.



Durham Academy 3, Ravenscoft 0

RALEIGH — Lakin Barry, Maggie Mallernee, Emma Myers each scored as Durham Academy shut out Ravenscroft.



SOFTBALL

East Chapel Hill 6, Northern 5


CHAPEL HILL — Elizabeth Kupec drove in four runs and Sarah Town two as East Chapel Hill withstood a two-run Northern rally in the sixth inning. Callie Horn was 3 for 3 and drove in a pair of runs for Northern.



Orange 6, Southern Vance 5

HILLSBOROUGH — Brooke Copeland drove in the walk-off game-winning run to cap a three-run Orange comeback in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Panthers (14-1, 8-0 Carolina 6 3-A) remained unbeaten in conference play.

MacKenzie Cates and Chenoa Daye each had a pair of hits for the Panthers.

Kyrbee Cheek went all the way for the win, despite giving up five runs in the final four innings.
