DURHAM — Lakin Barry scored once and assisted on two other goals as Durham Academy (7-2) shut out Jordan (3-8).

Annie D’Amico and Kate Milano scored the other two goals and Jordan Townsend assisted on the Barry goal.



GIRLS’ TENNIS

Jordan 9, Riverside 0


DURHAM — Jordan swept Riverside in a PAC-6 4-A showdown Wednesday afternoon.

Hope Allen, Jenny Shaw, Adrianna Graves and Sarah Mitchell each won two matches for Jordan — singles and doubles.

Jordan (8-1) is a game behind PAC-6 leader East Chapel Hill (9-0) in the conference standings. The two teams meet for a second time this season, this time at East, today at 4 p.m.

Riverside remained winless in league play.

ECH 9, Person 0

CHAPEL HILL — East Chapel Hill remained unbeaten in PAC-6 4-A play, one game ahead of second-place Jordan, with a sweep of visiting Roxboro Person (19-4, 5-4 PAC-6).

Person is third in the PAC-6 standings.

East improved to 16-5, 9-0. Caroline Pope won her singles and doubles matches for the Wildcats, who juggled their regular starting lineup for the match. A total of 11 players competed for East.

Trinity School of Durham & Chapel Hill 9, Burlington Christian Academy 0

DURHAM — The Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill got a pair of wins each from Lina Habib, Ellie Feaver, Angela Tawfik, Anna Hofmann and Victoria James and shut out Triad Athletic Conference foe Burlington Christian Academy Wednesday.

VOLLEYBALL

Riverside 3, Middle Creek 2


DURHAM — Riverside improved to 17-1 in a non-conference nail-biter against visiting Apex Middle Creek Wednesday 25-23, 22-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-8.

Middle Creek, which was a no-show for a scheduled game at Riverside a week earlier, dropped to 5-10.

Zariya Thomas scored 21 points for Riverside with 19 kills, a block and an ace, while Moné Jones had 10 kills and five blocks for 15 points, Yakima Clifton 10 kills and four blocks for 14 points and Rachel Kallianos 10 kills and a pair of blocks in addition to 14 digs for 12 points.

Victoria Pearce had 15 digs and nine assists from the libero slot and Casey Speer had 35 assists and a dozen digs for the Pirates, who are the undefeated PAC-6 4-A leaders.

Cedar Ridge 3, E. Alamance 0

HILLSBOROUGH — Chelsea Hill had 14 kills and Cass Michal 41 assists to lead Cedar Ridge past Eastern Alamance in non-conference action Wednesday night 25-15, 25-22, 25-18.

Cedar Ridge, which is tied for second in the Big Eight 3-A Conference with Chapel Hill — both at 8-2 in league play — remains a game behind undefeated league leader Cardinal Gibbons (15-0, 10-0).

Raleigh Charter 3, N.C. School of Science & Mathematics 1

RALEIGH — Former conference rivals Raleigh Charter and the N.C. School of Science & Mathematics hooked up once again Wednesday night, Charter coming away with the 25-19, 18-25, 25-22, 25-17.

The schools were members of the now-defunct Carolina 12 1-A Conference a year ago, but since then, NCSSM has been reclassified to the 2-A ranks. Charter improved to 14-3 while the Unicorns fell to 6-14.

Rebecca Shen had seven kills and a pair of blocks for the Unis, while Zia Gray had 25 assists and Clair Namboodri 23 digs for NCSSM.

Chapel Hill 5, Northwood 1


CHAPEL HILL — John Walden, Alex Walker, Daniel Ferreira, Chandler Weedon and Ben Fisher handled the Chapel Hill scoring as the undefeated Big Eight 3-A Conference leader (14-1-1, 8-0 Big Eight) dispatched rival Pittsboro Northwood (6-5, 4-3 Big Eight) here Wednesday.
