Cavaliers top Wake Christian in double-OT

BOYS’ BASKETBALL
DA 70, Wake 67
DURHAM — Freshman Pryce Sinclair sank a 3-pointer late in regulation to send the game to overtime, and Durham Academy four free throws from Alston Thompson in the second extra period to claim a 70-67 win over Wake Christian on Monday night.
In the first overtime, the Cavaliers (20-7, 4-3 TISAC) held a three-point lead when Wake Christian’s Drew Boykin banked in a long shot at the buzzer and was fouled. His free throw missed the mark to set up the second overtime.
Thompson led Durham Academy with 25 points, while Sinclair and Slater Daniels added 11 each for the Cavs.

Caldwell 51, Trinity 49
DURHAM — Paul Dunlap posted 13 points to lead Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill, but Caldwell Academy pulled out a 51-49 overtime win in TAC boys’ basketball Monday.
William Stevenson added 11 points for Trinity, which needed a 17-7 run in the fourth quarter to force the extra period.
Jonathan Holley and Will Scarborough led Caldwell with 10 points each.

Fellowship 45, Fay. St. 44
DURHAM — Timothy Dail posted 13 points to lead Fellowship Baptist to a 45-44 win over Fayetteville Street of Asheboro in NCCSA District 4 boys’ basketball.
Jonathan Hartman added 10 points for Fellowship (30-2, 3-1).
John Brewer fired in 16 points to lead Fayetteville Street (17-5, 0-3), while Nathan Small chipped in 12.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Caldwell 62, Trinity 57
DURHAM — Caldwell Academy needed double overtime to escape with a 62-57 win over Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill in TAC girls’ basketball action Monday night.
Kellie Schaefer posted 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Trinity (10-6, 6-2 TAC), while Allie Ruffing added 13 points and Abby Turner 12.

DA 52, Wake 24
DURHAM — Cha’Mia Rothwell fired in 15 points to lead Durham Academy past Wake Christian 52-24 in TISAC girls’ basketball Monday.
Liz Roberts chipped in 13 points for Durham Academy (16-9), while Robin Blazing and Amanda Lawrence had 12 rebounds each for the Cavaliers.
