Myers, Bulls pound RailRiders’ pitching

Wil Myers had a home run and a double to help the Durham Bulls outslug the Scranton-Wilkes Barre RailRiders 11-6 in International League action Saturday night.
Bulls starter J.D. Martin (6-2) pitched five innings for the win, giving up three runs on seven hits and two walks.
Vince Belnome added a pair of hits for the Bulls, who pounded out 10 against the RailRiders’ staff.
The Bulls (30-19), trailing 1-0 heading into the third, broke the game open with five runs off Scranton-Wilkes Barre starter Caleb Cothan (0-3).
Tim Beckham and Cole Figueroa drew walks to open the inning, and a Cotham pickoff attempt was wild to allow Beckham to score from third. Craig Albernaz drew a base on balls, and the runners advanced on a sacrifice by Rich Thompson.
Jason Bourgeois drove in Figueroa with a groundout, and Belnome followed with an RBI single to place Albernaz. Myers doubled, moving Belnome to third, and a wild pitch allowed Belnome to score. Shelley Duncan’s single to right drove in Myers for a 5-1 Durham lead.
Ronnier Mustelier, who had three hits for the RailRiders (21-26), blasted a solo homer in the third and Scranton-Wilkes Barre added another on a double by Melky Mesa to cut the margin to 5-3. But Durham struck again in the fourth with three more runs.
Beckham singled to start the rally, followed by another walk to Figueroa. A sacrifice by Albernaz advanced the runners, and Thompson’s groundout drove in Beckham. Bourgeois singled to center to drive in Figueroa and end the night for Cotham.
Belnome greeted RailRiders reliever Dellin Betrances with an RBI double to right for an 8-3 Durham lead.
The Bulls added a pair in the fifth on a two-run single by Figueroa, and Myers ripped his sixth homer of the season to left-center in the sixth.
Scranton-Wilkes Barre’s Corban Joseph blasted a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to cut the margin to 11-5.
