No. 6 North Carolina extended its winning streak to nine matches with a 5-2 victory over No. 14 Miami on Saturday afternoon from Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

North Carolina (20-3. 9-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) did something that no team had been unable to do in nearly a full calendar year, win the doubles point from the Hurricanes.

Miami (14-3, 8-1) evened the doubles portion with a win on court three, but Ashley Dai and Whitney Kay held for an 8-3 win on court two to take a 1-0 lead.

The Hurricanes tied the match 1-1 with a win at six singles, before top-ranked Jamie Loeb and No. 7 Hayley Carter won in straight sets to give the Tar Heels a 3-1 advantage.

At five singles, Kate Vialle clinched the victory by closing out the second set with a 7-6 (7-4) win.
