S.C. State holds off NCCU women
Two days after posting their first win of the season, the N.C. Central women’s basketball team came close to another Monday night before losing to S.C. State 40-39 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Confernce action.
Aja Hoyle posted 11 points and Tisha Dixon added 10 points to lead the Lady Eagles (1-24, 1-11 MEAC), who led 15-10 at halftime. NCCU beat Savannah State 43-38 on Saturday.
NCCU senior Chasidy Williams, who finished with seven points and nine rebounds, missed the front end of a one-and-one free throw opportunity with 2.2 seconds left.
Trinese Fox paced S.C. State (15-7, 7-4) with 10 points.
