Tigers scratch Lady Eagles
Savannah State had three players score in double figures in a 60-53 win over N.C. Central in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference on Monday.
NCCU’s Jessica Freeman led all scorers with 20 points, and she got solid help from Racquel Davis (15 points, 7 rebounds). Tisha Dixon was big on the boards with 11 rebounds to go with seven points for NCCU.
Savannah State led 27-25 at halftime.
The Lady Eagles all season have been fighting from behind and relying on 3-pointers from Freeman to bail them out. The two-point halftime deficit against the Tigers was progress.
But Savannah State (15-11, 8-4 MEAC) shot a higher field-goal percentage in the second half, while NCCU (9-16, 4-8 MEAC) cooled off.
Those 33 turnovers didn’t help the Lady Eagles.
