Corner kicks end Jordan's historic season

The Jordan's girls soccer team found itself in a corner from which it could not escape. Leesville Road sophomore sensation Mackenzie Dipper made sure of that, getting a hat trick to seal a 3-2 win over the Falcons on Tuesday night in an NCHSAA 4-A third round game.

Riverside’s championship season came to a disappointing end Tuesday as Green Hope snapped a 3-3 tie with a six-run sixth inning and downed the homestanding Pirates 10-3 in the second round of the state 4-A baseball playoffs.

East Chapel Hill junior Ben Griffin won the state individual 4-A golf championship for the second time in three seasons with a two-day total of 9-under 135 at Pinehurst No. 8.

Unicorns gun down Voyager in tennis playoffs

Top-seeded N.C. School of Science and Mathematics put away Voyager 5-1 during a third-round match in the state 1-A dual-team tennis playoffs at Jordan on Monday. NCSSM was without its No. 2 player and its No. 4 player showed up late after finishing an exam, but Voyager, a wildcard entry, just didn’t have the horses to keep up with the Unicorns.

Griffin looks to reclaim state 4-A golf medalist
