GIRLS’ TENNIS

Jordan 9, Riverside 0


DURHAM — Hope Allen, Jenny Shawn, Adrianna Graves, Sarah Mitchell and Genevieve Whitcomb each won their singles and doubles matches Tuesday as Jordan swept Riverside.

Taylor Phillips teamed with Whitcomb for the win at No. 3 doubles.
 

DA 6, Ravenscroft 3

DURHAM — Durham Academy earned its first win over Ravenscroft in girls’ tennis since October 2001 — a span of 22 matches.

DA took a 2-1 lead after doubles and the teams split the first four matches in singles before senior Olivia Li rallied from 5-1 deficit in the second set for a 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) win at No. 1 singles to clinch the match for the Cavaliers.
 

ECH 9, Roxboro Person 0

ROXBORO — East Chapel Hill improved to 9-3 overall and 3-0 in the PAC-6 4-A while Roxboro Person fell to 10-2, 0-2 in an East sweep.

Rainie Heck and Meghana Holegadde won in singles and doubles for the Wildcats.

ROXBORO — Jordan’s Daniel Beamer led a 1-5 Jordan sweep on the road with a winning time of 13:38. Wesley Ellis, Coleman Deans, Silas Nuerenberger and Justice Scott rounded out the top five.

Jordan won the accompanying girls’ meet here by forfeit over the Rockets.

Ravenscroft 3, DA 0


DURHAM — Ravenscroft won its Triangle Independent School Athletic Conference opener at Durham Academy Tuesday.

The homestanding Cavaliers dropped to 0-1-1 in TISAC play and 2-2-1 overall.
 

Trinity/Durham 8, BCA 0

DURHAM — Daniel Ray scored four times, Christopher Sanchez twice and Xavier Idress and Bennett Goss once each to lead The Trinity School of Durham & Chapel Hill past Burlington Christian Academy.

Trinity is 4-4-2 on the season.

RALEIGH — Durham Academy golfers Sammy Lanevi, Kit McHutchison and Elizabeth Hall finished 2-3-4 Tuesday at North Ridge County Club as the Cavaliers easily beat Ravenscroft.

DURHAM — The Trinity School of Durham & Chapel Hill easily handed visiting Burlington Christian Academy 25-13, 25-11, 25-11 to improve to 12-1 on the season.

DURHAM — South Granville remained unbeaten in the new Northern Carolina 2-A Conference with a 25-17, 26-24, 25-12 NCC win over the N.C. School of Science & Math Tuesday.

Courtney Bell and Rebecca Shen each had eight kills for NCSSM. Sam Zarnick led the team with 22 assists and Claire Namboodri had 18 digs.
 

Cedar Ridge 3, Northwood 0

HILLSBOROUGH — Cedar Ridge improved to 4-0 in the new Carolina Eight 3-A Conference with a 25-16, 25-15, 25-12 win over visiting Northwood, 0-4 in C-8 play.

Bailey Freeman had 10 kills and Chelsea Hill eight, while Cass Michal chipped in 28 assists for the Red Wolves.
 

Ravenscroft 3, DA 0

DURHAM — Dana Williams scored 16 points on four kills and 12 blocks Tuesday but it wasn’t nearly enough to derail visiting Ravenscroft, which improved to 15-1 overall and 1-0 in TISAC play 25-19, 25-21, 25-23.

DA dropped to 6-5 and 0-2 in the TISAC.
 

Voyager 3, Roxboro 1

DURHAM — Sydney Holland scored 26 points on 23 kills, two blocks and an ace, while adding a co-team best 16 digs, as Voyager Academy knocked off Roxboro Community 23-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-20 in a North Central 1-A Athletic Conference showdown Tuesday.
 

FIELD HOCKEY

DA 2, Ravenscroft 1


RALEIGH — Durham Academy won a five-stroker tiebreaker 3-2, giving the Cavaliers a 2-1 final victory over Ravenscroft Tuesday.

The teams were tied at 1-1 after regulation on goals by DA’s Kate Milano and Ravenscroft’s Hathe Gale and each team got five scoring opportunities in the tiebreaker period. Jordan and Lakin Barry and Emma Eason gave DA the final edge.
