Playoff times set for Hillside, Webb boys, Chapel Hill girls

The N.C. High School Athletic Association on Saturday announced pairings and starting times for games involving all three area basketball teams that have advanced to the East Regional semifinals.

All games involving area teams will be played at Fayetteville’s Crown Coliseum.

In 4-A boys’ action, Hillside (21-7) will meet Raleigh Broughton (25-5) at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The winner of that game will play in the East Region championship Saturday at noon against the winner of Clayton (28-2) vs. Fayetteville Seventy-First (27-2).

In the 3-A boys’ ranks, Oxford Webb (24-5) will take on Eastern Alamance (25-5) Friday at 8:30 p.m. and the winner of that game will meet the winner of Rocky Mount (25-2)-West Craven (25-4) in the regional finals at 6 p.m. Saturday.

In 3-A girls’ action, Chapel Hill (27-1) will meet Northern Guilford (29-1) in a 7 p.m. semifinal on Thursday  and the winner will play for the region title against the Eastern Wayne (28-1)-West Craven winner at 4 p.m. Saturday.

East Region champions will advance to meet West Region champions on Saturday, March 16.

The 3-A title games will be played at N.C. State’s Reynolds Coliseum, and the 4-A title game will be played at UNC Chapel Hill’s Dean E. Smith Center.
