Allen’s strikeouts help Red Wolves top Wildcats

Cedar Ridge 8, ECH 1

CHAPEL HILL — Lou Allen struck out seven and scattered four hits to lead Cedar Ridge to an 8-1 win over East Chapel Hill in softball action Friday.
Logan Barefoot and Bree Ellis went 2-for-3 for the Red Wolves (1-1), including a double each.

South Granville 10, Franklin 0
CREEDMOOR — Hunter Mundy had a grand slam to lead South Granville to a 10-0 season-opening win over Franklin Academy in softball action Friday.
Erin Boone went 3-for-3 and Megan Bowes 2-for-2 for the Vikings, while Kasey Newcomb threw a two-hitter for the win on the mound.

Orange 7, Jordan 1

DURHAM — Nick Debo ripped a pair of hits to lead Orange to a 7-1 win over Jordan in baseball.
Andrew Toney had a hit for two RBIs for the Panthers (1-0). Steven Oakley had the only hit for Jordan (0-1).
Bryse Wilson, Jonah Neville and Jon Evans combined for the one-hit victory.

ECH 2, Cedar Ridge 0
CHAPEL HILL — Josh Kiehl threw a four-hitter to give Cedar Ridge a 3-0 win over East Chapel Hill in baseball on Friday.
Asher McDonald led the Red Wolves (1-1) with a pair of hits.

Riverside 7, Sanderson 4
RALEIGH — Bub Deluca had a pair of hits, including a double, and three stolen bases to power Riverside to a 7-4 victory over Sanderson.
Corey Behenna added two hits and two RBIs for the Pirates in their opener, while Jake Kusch had a double and a pair of RBIs.
