HENDERSON — Kadarus Rone rushed for 123 yards and Montel Goods 106 as Northwood (7-2, 3-2 Big Eight) crushed winless Northern Vance in Big Eight 3-A Conference action here Friday.

Rone scored the game’s opening touchdown on a 3-yard run and Goods scored on runs of 11 and 15 yards for the Chargers. Quarterback Ti Pinnix ran for a 59-yard score and threw TD passes of 21 and 35 yards to Imoh Udoh and Jalen Smith, respectively.

Reserve quarterback Jacob Fowler threw a 66-yard TD pass to Colby Stallings to close out the scoring late.


Louisburg 43, Granville Central 34

LOUISBURG — Granville Central came from 22-20 down in the third quarter to take a 28-22 lead but Louisburg answered with a pair of touchdowns to take the lead back.

Granville Central (5-4, 2-1 Tar-Roanoke 1-A) came up short on a two-point conversion try that would have tied the score at 36 and Louisburg (6-3, 3-0 Tar-Roanoke added a late score to clinch sole possession of first place in the Tar-Roanoke Conference over the now-second place Panthers.

Bryce Parrott caught two TD passes and ran for a third and Jeremy Parker threw for four TDs for Granville Central.


Fayetteville Christian 44, Kestrel Heights 6

FAYETTEVILLE — Faytteville Christian (3-6) routed visiting Kestrel Heights (1-8).

Kestrel Heights’ touchdown came on a 7-yard run by Izaiyah Coleman.


 Jordan-Matthews 28, Carrboro 7

SILER CITY — Injury-riddled Carrboro fell to Mid-State 2-A Conference rival Jordan-Matthews to fall to 4-5, 1-2 Mid-State.

Jordan-Matthews improved to 3-6, 1-2 Mid-State.
