CHAPEL HILL — East Chapel Hill rebounded after losing the top three singles matches and No. 1 doubles match Wednesday, improving to 6-2 with a non-conference win over Greensboro Page.

Iskra Jovsimovic, Mackenzie Bright and Kiri Schulz got ECH back in it with wins at Nos. 4-6 singles and the doubles teams of Meghana Holegadde and Jovsimovic and Caroline McLanahan and Sarah McMahon closed it out with wins at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles.

CHAPEL HILL — Homestanding Chapel Hill downed Oxford Webb twice in a rare tennis doubleheader Wednesday.

The wins gave the Tigers two in Big Eight 3-A Conference action while Webb picked up a pair of conference losses.

 

Ravenscroft 8, Jordan 1

DURHAM — Genevieve Whitcomb’s 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 5 singles was the only victory Jordan could muster Wednesday in a non-conference match against independent school Raleigh Ravenscroft.

Jordan fell to 1-2 with the loss.

 

VOLLEYBALL

ECH 3, Carrboro 1

CHAPEL HILL — East Chapel Hill defeated Carrboro 25-18, 25-21, 19-25, 25-20 in a non-conferenc rivalry battle Wednesday.

Annie Carter had 17 kills and Serena Seelbach had 11 kills and six scoring blocks for the Wildcats (2-3). Carrboro dropped to 2-5 with the loss.

 

Riverside 3, Green Hope 0

DURHAM — Riverside continue to rebound from a disappointing 3-0 opening round loss to Chapel Hill in the Chapel Hill Tiger Invitational with a 25-15, 25-17, 25-14 over visiting Cary Green Hope Wednesday night.

Zaria Thomas had 15 kills, Casey Speer 27 assists and Victoria Pearce 17 digs to lead the Pirates, now 5-1 on the year.

 

BOYS’ SOCCER

Jordan 4, Enloe 0


DURHAM — Austin Rochelle’s unassisted goal 1:11 into the game was all the offense Jordan needed Wedneday in its non-conference win over visiting Raleigh Enloe Wednesday.

Huntley Munn, Jake Dressman and Christian Aguilera added insurance goals in the second half for the Falcons, while starter Billy Morgenlander (45 minutes) and backup Alex Krupa (35 minutes) pitched an easy combined shutout in goal.

Morgenlander was never called on to make a save, while Krupa made three.
