GIRLS’ TENNIS

ECH 9, Chapel Hill 0

CHAPEL HILL — Unbeaten East Chapel Hill swept six singles and three doubles matches to shut out homestanding Chapel Hill Thursday night in a non-conference match.

East singles winners were Rainey Heck, Brooke Prichard, Meghana Holegadde, Iskra Joksinovic, Mackenzie Bright and Kiri Schultz.

O’Neal 5, Carolina Friends 4

DURHAM — The O’Neal School of Southern Pines won two of three doubles matches to snap a 3-all tie and down Carolina Friends School.

CFS singles winners were Ellie McDonald, Noor Singh, and Aliza Bridge.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Chapel Hill 4, Cary Academy 0

CHAPEL HILL — Alex Walker scored a pair of goals and Will Sharpless and Connor Albrech each scored as Chapel Hill improved to 2-0 in the rain-shortened Orange County Invitational Soccer Tournament.

Championship and runnerup games were canceled because Monday’s opening round matches were rained out.

CROSS COUNTRY

DA boys, girls win

DURHAM — The Durham Academy girls beat Cary Christina 24-35 and the DA boys won by an almost identical 23-36 margin Thursday at DA.

Marissa Bishop of Cary Christian won the girls’ race in 20:12 followed by six straight DA finishers led by Katie Concannon’s 22:39.

In the boys’ race, Jordan Pierce of DA won the title in 19:02. DA runners also finished second, fifth and seventh.

VOLLEYBALL

Orange 3, Hillside 0

HILLSBOROUGH — Orange High School rode eight kills apiece from Andie McKinnon and Ashley Muench past Hillside 25-20, 25-13, 25-11.

Muench also had seven aces and Teyler Hall 10 assists for the 1-0 Panthers.
